Tonight I set up a...something. I'm not sure I'd go so far as to call it an 'office'. It's a place to write.
Thus far, when I'd sat down to do *real* story work, I'd be at this computer (which is upstairs, and shared with the Significant Other - there aren't any privacy issues, really, but it does mean that I don't always have access to the machine when I'm feeling creative) or sprawled somewhere with a notebook and pen.
This has been working...more or less.
But I'm getting to the point where I have multiple overlapping stories in play, where I have *projects*. And the need to keep putting up shorter stories here on something vaguely resembling a regular schedule (still working on this part). I needed to standardize.
So, tonight I snuck down to the basement that we rarely use (cluttered with Things) and set up a folding table & spare kitchen chair in the back corner. Fortunately our basement does not flood, as the heavens have been pouring down upon us this week. I have candles, and a little fridge for sodas, and I'm going to invest in a cheapass electric teapot so I can have tea. And notebooks, pens, adequate lighting.
Nothing formal, nothing worth any title more grandiose than 'nook'. But I got three or four pages done after all the setting-up-of-furniture, so things are looking good.
If you write, tell me, where do you write? Laptop in an internet cafe'? Desktop in the home office? Quill pen on vellum? I'm curious.

Laptop sitting on the couch in the silence of my room, usually with the TV on, but the sound muted so that I can concentrate. That's how I roll. :)
Oh! Oh! Oh!
I *have* to have a quiet, semi-private place to write. I've a beautiful desk with lots of drawers and cubbies and a hutch with little twinkling lights for mood.
Mostly I use a tiny HP desktop computer although I have my handy-dandy flash drive and laptop for my naughty little forays to the wi-fi cafe down the street. Something wicked about writing hot sex scenes in public ;)
So glad you have a space to call your own. It does so help with the flow of stories. I'm like you in the way that I have probably 5 or 6 different storylines going at once. Organization is key...as is the fridge and teapot!
Can't wait for all the new content!
My laptop goes everywhere with me... most often, though, I'm on a sofa, with the world (seemingly) going by me, in and out of the room, asking questions, needing me to find things, all that fun mom stuff. I'm the world's fastest 'window minimizer' when needed. :)
I'm glad you are making more room for your writing - I'm eager to read more! And - I write in my head while walking, then type it later. I don't have a laptop.
I just linked to you! Very belatedly, I think.
I tend to write anywhere that can keep people away from me.
A lot of times, I will write while I'm at work. I arrive at work for a half an hour of quiet time before my hectic work day.
In that half hour, I often write things that my mind could not otherwse create. The silence helps me a lot.
